Episcopal Church Women (ECW)

Grace-Calvary Episcopal Church

The mission of ECW is to nurture and enrich the spiritual development of all ages within the Grace-Calvary family.

With our mission in mind we look forward to a year with several offerings and opportunities to gather, study, expand, and stretch our spiritual and personal lives.

Membership for ECW is automatic!  Every woman who is a member of Grace-Calvary Episcopal Church is a member of ECW.  There is an ECW Board that meets to handle the business and logistical aspects of ECW.  Board members are elected annually at the ECW Retreat and may serve one or year terms. The current Board members are:

  • Anne Short, President
  • Kathy O’Keefe, Vice-President
  • Susan Smith, Secretary/Treasurer
  • Kathy Lovell, Board Member (1 year)
  • Chrissy Garrison, Board Member (1 year)
  • Kay Brown, Board Member (2 years)
  • Babs Ogier, Board Member (2 years)
  • Jere Singer, Board Member (2 years)

Special Events for 2011-2012

On October 1, 2011, ECW is sponsoring a luncheon/presentation for all genders in Saint Julian Hall.  Our presenter is Dr. Barbara Brown Taylor, Piedmont professor of religion and author of An Altar in the World.  Dr. Taylor’s presentation is Everyday Sacraments.  The Cathedral Bookstore will have Dr. Taylor’s books available, as well as other books and gift items.

Tickets are $30.00 and may be purchased through any ECW Board member or the church office. The Let Us Say Grace Cookbook committee is providing lunch.

Other projects for this coming year:

United Thank Offering

The UTO is a program of The Episcopal Church for the mission of the whole Church, founded by and administered by women since 1889.  The UTO Committee is a spiritual and financial partner in the mission work of The Episcopal Church, through every person in every pew.  UTO is entrusted to promote thank offerings, to receive the offerings, and to distribute the UTO monies through grants.  The Committee awards and administers these grants within the framework of the policies and procedures of the Domestic and Foreign Missionary Society of The Episcopal Church.

Our UTO program at Grace-Calvary this year will focus on a one Sunday offering to be announced in the fall.  After this one offering in the fall of 2011, a year- long effort to support the UTO program will begin in January of 2012.
