Daughter of the King - 2003

Daughters of the King - Alice Driver Chapter

President   Judy Waskes

Purpose:  A religious order of laywomen who pledge themselves to a lifelong program of daily prayer, service, and evangelism.

The Order of the Daughters of the King is a religious order of lay women in the Episcopal Church or churches in communion with it. A Daughter pledges herself to a life-long program of daily prayer, service and evangelism. Prayer is the foundation upon which Daughters serve others. Times of prayer to God are followed by service to people. We prepare meals, call, send cards to, and visit the sick and shut-in, and assist our priest in any way possible. We also sponsor Quiet Days and conduct study classes for our chapter, provide Cradle Crosses for newborns, and Baptismal candles.

Daughters of the King was organized in 1885. There are more than 10,000 of us worldwide. Our chapter has 19 members. The only requirement for membership is that a woman be a communicant in good standing and serve a three-month training period.

The emblem of the Order is the silver Greek cross which members wear at all times symbolizing our need of Christ in our lives daily.

We meet each Wednesday at  11:30 am in St. Julian Hall.  All are welcome to visit a meeting.
