The Rev. Dean Taylor

The Rev. C. Dean Taylor, a native of Eufaula, Alabama, has spent most of his career as an Episcopal Priest in the Diocese of Atlanta. After college at the University of the South at Sewanee, a stint as a newspaper reporter and high school teacher, and seminary at Virginia Theological Seminary, he spent a twenty year rectorship at St. Mark’s Dalton.  He then embarked on a career as “Intentional Interim Rector” and has served seven different parishes in that capacity, including parishes in Memphis, Tennessee, Sarasota and Jacksonville Florida, Gainesville, Georgia, and four parishes in Atlanta. And, of course, including Grace-Calvary Clarkesville!

Fr. Taylor and his wife Dawn live in Dunwoody, Atlanta, where she works as the Chief Credit Officer for Bank South. As a cellist, he has joined the Alpharetta Symphony Orchestra. This past month, Dean has been blessed with a first granddaughter, with a second due next month!

DR. MARK MENTZER

Director of Music

Dr. Mark A. Mentzer is an educator, scientist, author, and musician. He managed aerospace and manufacturing companies and led global product development in Europe, Asia, and the Americas. He taught at several universities and colleges for many years. His technical books are widely distributed in several languages. Mentzer’s music experience includes composition, arranging, theater productions, touring, accompanying, and live performances. Now residing in Blairsville, Georgia, Mentzer enjoys writing fiction and technical texts, performing popular music in local establishments, and serving as the new Director of Music at Grace-Calvary Church.

TERESA FRANKLIN

​Teresa Franklin has served as our Parish Administrator or Financial Administrator since September, 2013. She is a native Clarkesvillian, having graduated from Habersham Central High School in 1978. Teresa graduated from Georgia Tech in 1982, lived in the Metropolitan Atlanta area until 1996, then moved back to Clarkesville to be close to family. Teresa was ordained to the Ministry of Word and Sacrament in the Presbyterian Church U.S.A. in 2010, and currently serves as the Interim Pastor of the Nacoochee Presbyterian Church in Sautee. Teresa has been married to Phillip Franklin since 1999, and together they are raising two grandchildren, 9-year-old Arianna and 6-year-old Isabella. They live in a 100-year-old farmhouse that has been in Teresa's family since it was built in 1923.

JENNIFER BOYDSTUN

Jennifer has had the blessing of serving in a church office setting since 2005.  Born and raised in Oklahoma, she graduated from Okla. State University with a BS in Forestry. Jennifer and husband, Blaine, have called Clarkesville home since 1988.  They have two sons & daughters-in-love, and three precious grands. In 2012, Jennifer was commissioned as a deaconess in the United Methodist Church, confirming a call to a ministry of administration and support for the local church.  The Order of Deaconess & Home Missioner is a lay order for women and men called to ministry through their vocation, under the authority of The UMC.
